Hi guys !
Here is my (first) Caine1 Heavy Metal list :
I could swap Sword Knight for a Cyclone, and get a free Jakes then (and put the Ironclad on her). But i like my ol' good Sword Knight unit, for contest duty, and sometimes, some sweet weapon master swings !
Caine1 doesn't have a lot of focus to spare, so the gameplan is to shoot down heavy target one at a time, with a Sniped Avenger launching is KD AOE, and the other jack boosting only their damage : Minutemen pumping their boosted POW 14 (major focus expenditure) and Hunter their 3 POW 6 armor-piercing shot.
Ironclad and sword knights are here for melee presence.
I know Caine1 may be one of our worst caster in the current meta (and since the MK3 beginning), but now, it seems that some infantry spam are slowly coming back. The idea beneath Caine1 is to have a caster able to :
- launch attacks on turn 1 (with Hunters, Ace and Snipe) to start attrition/shot down solos or key models
- get an easy access to magical weapon
- mop up infantry
I could drop it vs Cryx and Menoth (maybe Scyrah.. ?). My other list is currently a Maddox (Colosse build), in Storm division theme.
Obvious weaknesses still exists :
- no stealth mitigation (Minuteman can answer a little, and the Avenger has a 4" AOE)
- no cloud wall answer (Ace can still shoot key models)
- Caine1 as only ARM 13
I have yet to try this list for discovering other weaknesses/edges, but for now, I dig it a lot !
What do you think about it ? Does Caine1 still has game nowaday ?

I like the idea, since Caine1 can handle a lot of Infantry for himself while the Jacks can deal with Heavy targets.
Maybe you could get a problem with high ARM (above 20) with the List.
Ace is a good answer against stealth-models.
Could work - maybe i'll steal the list for testing purposes.

Thank for your answer. And don't be afraid to share your feeback, if you tests the list !  Yep, against natural high ARM target, it could be difficult. Yet, 5 boosted POW 14 and 3 hunters shot do 34 damage against ARM 21, which is not so bad for a gunline list. But a spam of high ARM may be too much, indeed... for this kind of list, Maddox is here !  2 others interesting things about this Caine1 list : - it certainly has a good "assassination run" option, with Ace and its shadow Fire ammo, a Sniped Deadeyed Avenger (RAT 5 + 4 dice hit DEF 19 on average), and the remaining shooting jack (Minuteman*2 and Hunter*3). Having this way to put pressure on the opponent is always handy. - the big ranged attacks volum can be enough to clean all the shield guards the opponent brings on the table (especially with Caine1 feat). I don't know if this list has a game versus Cyriss TF (I think a Lucant list has too much ARM), but the shield guard servitors shouldn't be a problem. |

I had a test with this (slighty) modified list :
against a Vlad2 list with Guard Dog, Behemoth, Kayazi Eliminators*2, Uhlan min, Drakhun, MOW full + CA + solo, Widowmakers + solo and Saxon Orrik(so, not an ideal match-up).
I conceded the game after T4 (my opponent had to go) because attrition was bad on my side... Quality shot means you are very dependant upon dice rolls. A string of bad damage/attack rolls from Hunters can easily cripple your game plan against a fast army : I have been unable to put enough damage on Behemoth, and then i lost the contested Flank with Jakes + Ironclad.
Thus, i liked the list, and i think it has potential. I will try it again, with few modifications :
The Centurion under SideKick should be an harder nut to crack than the Ironclad, for the opponent, and giving me enough boardspace and time to shoot what he would send in my zone.
The min Sword Knight may be sufficient for minimal jamming/dejamming duty. They can also work along with the Centurion.
